Closure of relief fund opened by Maldivian Red Crescent to support response and recovery efforts of the earthquake in Morocco

The Morocco Relief Fund was opened by Maldivian Red Crescent on 14th September 2023, in response to Emergency Appeal by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to respond to the earthquake in Morocco and support the relief efforts. The relief fund was opened from  14th – 21st September 2023, and has raised a total of MVR 70,931.64 in 07 days.

Donations collected through the Morocco Relief Fund will support the CHF 100 million Emergency appeal  released by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to provide humanitarian assistance to those affected by the Morocco earthquake.

The Maldivian Red Crescent has initiated the process to fulfill the necessary requirements to transfer the raised funds to the IFRC and is committed to ensuring complete transparency and accountability for all the donations received and will share timely updates with the public on the transfer and utilization of the funds to help those in need in Morocco.
