Restoring Family Links and Management of the Deceased Trainings: Building Emergency Response Capacity

The Maldivian Red Crescent, in partnership with the International Committee for Red Cross (ICRC), conducted a Restoring Family Links in Emergencies (RFLie) training and a Management of the Deceased (MotD) for First Responders workshop from 17th to 20th February 2025.

The 3-day Restoring Family Links in Emergencies training took place in partnership with the ICRC for MRC staff and volunteers, providing a platform for participants to gain skills and knowledge to provide effective RFL services during times of emergencies and crisis. Conducted through a series of simulations, the training took a hands-on approach to help ensure RFL services could be delivered to the community in coordination with partners times of crisis and disaster.

The Management of the Deceased Orientation Workshop for emergency responders was conducted on 20th February 2025 for participants across MRC units as well as partners, including representatives from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Maldives Police Services. Throughout the training, valuable information on the key role of first responders in the management of the deceased in times of disaster and in the Maldivian context was imparted to participants. Furthermore, volunteers and staff who had taken part in the International Course on MotD in Emergencies held in 2024 shared their insights and learning with fellow participants.
