MRC President and SG Conclude High-Level Partner Meetings in New Delhi, India

Maldivian Red Crescent President Ali Nashid and Secretary General Ahmed Shabin recently concluded a series of high-level engagements in New Delhi, India, aimed at enhancing regional cooperation and advancing the organisation’s humanitarian work.


Courtersy call to the High Commission of the Republic of Maldives
The visit began with a courtesy call to the High Commission of the Republic of Maldives, where the MRC leadership met with First Secretaries Mohamed Najeel and Fathimath Liusha. Discussions centred on MRC’s ongoing community initiatives and its expanding role within the South Asia region.

Visit to Indian Red Cross Society
President Nashid and SG Shabin also met with Mr. R. K. Jain, Secretary General of the Indian Red Cross Society. During the meeting, MRC conveyed heartfelt condolences and solidarity following the recent tragic incident in New Delhi. Both National Societies explored opportunities to deepen collaboration and reinforce regional humanitarian networks.



Meeting with Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)
The delegation continued their engagements with a visit to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), where they were received by Alfonso Verdu Perez, Head of the Regional Delegation. MRC expressed appreciation for ICRC’s longstanding support since its inception and held discussions on future avenues for cooperation to strengthen humanitarian action in the Maldives.

 

 

Meeting with IFRC Country Cluster Delegation for India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Bhutan. 
Rounding off the visit, President Nashid and SG Shabin met with John Entwistle, Head of the IFRC Country Cluster Delegation for India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Bhutan. The dialogue focused on enhancing partnerships, aligning regional priorities, and supporting the continued growth and resilience of the Maldivian Red Crescent.



These engagements reaffirm MRC’s commitment to working closely with regional and international partners to advance humanitarian services and strengthen community resilience.
